Riversdale is located in south-eastern Tasmania in the rapidly emerging Coal River Valley, near Hobart. This area enjoys particularly mild and dry weather during the ripening season between December and April, and is quickly becoming recognised for the reliability and quality of its wines, particularly Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Chardonnay - 750ml
Chardonnay has been produced from Riversdale vineyard for the last seven years and reliably shows strong, but elegant cool-climate varietal flavours - melons, white peaches and grapefruit, rather than overblown, far more tropical fruit flavours often found in warm area Chardonnays. Again, the relatively high acidity resulting from the cool climate gives these wines elegance and "tightness" of structure which ensures that they are extremely food-friendly.
Pinot Noir - 750ml
Pinot Noir is undoubtedly Tasmania's most important grape variety, and it is quite clear that the climate and the variety are remarkably well suited to each other. In areas such as the Coal River Valley, Pinot ripens under ideal conditions to give wines that are rich in dark berry-fruit, herbal and forest flavours, as well as having rich, but elegant complexity and length on the palate. Riversdale pinots produced over recent years have certainly exhibited these qualities and have contributed significantly to the quality of several highly successful wines.
